About the Artist
Cats, dogs, birds – you name it and Nancy can paint it!
Florida artist Nancy Colby has gained a well deserved reputation for watercolor paintings, and is often told that her paintings are so real, that you can almost pet the fur! Inspired by the love of all things related to animals, she expresses that love in all of her work which includes watercolor paintings, illustrations, and even prints. Her enthusiasm for her art and her willingness to share her techniques makes her popular both as a painter and an art instructor in the art community.
Nancy continually achieves top honors in the Florida Suncoast Watercolor Society, Arts of Sarasota, Venice Art Center, Charlotte County Visual Arts Center, and North Port Area Art Center - and she has been voted Best Pet Portrait Artist 2010 and 2012 by Sarasota Pet Magazine. She has also served as President of the Florida Suncoast Watercolor Society for two years and is currently serving as Secretary of the Board.
Nancy emphasizes on painting cats, but she also paints dogs, birds, and many other animals – including fantasy animals! She’s a well rounded artist that pays plenty of attention to detail, so if there’s a certain feature of your animal that is personal to you – you can be sure that Nancy will make that feature stand out!
